These Black Diamond packs are lightweight, technical packs. They’re designed with foam framesheets and flexible Y-frames to move with you during steep hikes and rough trails. The harnesses are thermo-molded foam, so they’re comfortable but not bulky. Both have ski-carrying holders on the sides, dual ice axe/tool straps, and a hydration pouch sleeve. Both packs are highly water-resistant too, but the weight is only 3.5 pounds for both sizes.
The 55-liter Shadow backpack is normally $200, but is only $125 on sale. Available in a 16-19″ frame size with 3356 cubic inches of capacity. Good for a long weekend or lightly-packed, week-long summer backpacking trip.
