It’s mountain biking season and ski/boarding season isn’t too far off. Grab 15% off Yakima and Thule car racks with this link from EMS.com. EMS is an REI-class outdoor gear store with a full selection of racks and accessories (even the biggest gear boxes) and none of the newer Yakima or Thule parts are excluded from the sale, but the sale is only one for one more day.
Discount is applied to your cart automatically via any of the links in this post. Sale ends 9/11/2007. No free shipping at EMS.com, but they don’t charge sales tax when shipping outside of most states in the Northeast US.
- Start at Moosejaw.com where all Yakima bike, ski, and gear racks are 10% off
- Add coupon code SUPERSALE at checkout to get another 10% off
- Moosejaw makes shipping free on orders of $29 or more, even for heavy parts like Yakima gear (but not on all oversize items, like the large Yakima gear boxes)
- No sales tax is charged for parts shipped outside of Michigan or Illinois (that’s about another 8% off for those of use “stuck” in California)
Yakima car racks are on sale at Moosejaw.com right now. Not a big sale, just 10% off, but you can also use coupon code SUPERSALE at checkout to get another 10% off the sale price. Total discount after coupon code is 19% off regular prices.
And, while Yakima parts are kinda’ bulky and heavy ground shipping is free from Moosejaw on all orders of $49 or more. Even better, there’s no sales tax on anything unless you’re shipping it to Michigan or Illinois. Since I used to live in Chicago and still have friends there who read this site, that stinks for you, but you can ship your new gear to me and come visit. I won’t use your gear before you get here. Really I just want an excuse to go camping and use your new gear once you get here.
A big, fat 20% off coupon for any full-price item at REI is in my Saturday LA Times today. No need to run out and try to track one down though, the 20% off coupon is part of REIs anniversary sale and is good on orders placed by mail and phone too. Just mention coupon code ANNV7 at phone checkout or enter it into the coupon code box online and it will apply to the highest-priced camp, hike, or sports gear in your cart – with some exclusions, see small print paraphrased below.
Of course, the coupon’s small print:
Offer isn’t valid on sale items. REI membership required, but you can join for $15 at checkout. Also not valid on special orders, packages, prior purchases, gif cards, services, rentals, bikes, boats, GPS’s, radios, or locator beacons (for once, ski and snowboard gear appears to be eligible – of course, it’s probably on closeout sale already and thus not eligible as a sale item). Merchandise must be in-stock and purchases with this coupon aren’t eligible for the REI member refund.

Get 20% off one item at REI.com for just one more day. Use coupon code HOLIDAYFUN at checkout for discount (expires 12/24/2006). Unfortuantely skis, snowboards, and bindings are excluded from this discount – see HikerDeals reader Mark’s comment for all terms and conditions.
The REI winter sale started today. Forget about waiting for Thanksgiving, REI has all their new, winter gear marked down as much as 30%. Most items are about 20% off, but that’s about the best price you’re gong to get on new snowboards & skis, car racks, snowshoes, down jackets, and ski helmets until March (unless it’s some uncool color that isn’t selling). The sale is on from November 17-26.
Take a look at what’s there, and remember to checkout REI-Outlet.com too, for all the summer camping gear that’s on clearance there.
Just a reminder that REI’s coupon for $30 off $150+ and $20 off $100+ orders is good until Nov. 17th:
A great chance to get upto 20% off new-season skis, boards, boots, and other winter camping gear.
Snow Leopard Mountain Sports has taken 25% off all Yakima racks and parts. Yakima racks and parts in the 25% off sale are also eligible for free shipping on $40+ orders, almost a given with what most Yakima rack parts cost. With ski season coming up, this is a great deal for ski racks – and probably even worth storing new bike or kayak rack parts in the garage for the spring.
REI.com is having their Labor day sale now (through 9/5/2005).
One thing worth checking out is their Thule car racks – everything Thule is 20% off.
Summer clearance at Snow Leopard Mountain Sports:
- All sleeping bags are 35% off – Mountain Hardware, Sierra Designs, North Face, Big Agnes & more.
- All car racks are 25% off – Yakima!
Plus, free shipping on any $50+ order.
PerformanceBike.com has a huge end-of-season sale and a bike rack and shipping sale this weekend. The items are already on sale, just enter shipping code: 1011017 at checkout for 99¢ shipping on $79+ orders (expires 7/31/2005).
Mammoth Mountain may have just closed the ski slopes a week ago, but it’s a good time to buy a ski rack for next season. The Yakima Button Down Promo rack is 27% off at BackcountryOutlet.com, and it qualifies for their no sales tax and free shipping on orders of $50 or more promotions.
This Advantage Sports bike rack holds 2 bikes and mounts on a trailer hitch which most SUV’s have and cars can be equipped with. It’s 33% off right now, and only $99.97 with free shipping.
A 20% off sale on all Yakima rack parts and accessories at Backcountry.com.
