The Outdoor Research Razor jacket is a 4 ounce softshell built to cut out wind chill. The ultrathin shell can keep you warm but breathes like nothing else during fall and winter running, snowshoeing, and light rains. It’s DWR coated but isn’t rated to any specific level of water resistance, so it may not be much of a rain shell, despite the ultralight weight.

$65 - Mountainsmith Wolverine 20°F Sleeping Bag
Fall is here and with it, a ton of end-of-season clearance gear. Camping equipment has been getting les and less expensive too, here’s a good example: this Mountainsmith 20° sleeping bag is only $65 right now, but it’s a name-brand with a good warranty and a load of good features.
On top of my list are the non-slip bottom to keep you on a sleeping pad and the polyester, instead of nylon, shell fabric (Why?: it’s quieter and doesn’t rustle like nylon). The Wolverine sleeping bag is a synthetic fill and weighs about 5 pounds, in a long size, but even though it’s not ultralight it’s worth it for the cheap price and as an extra sleeping bag to keep in the trunk in case a daytrip is enough fun to turn in to a weekend overnighter.

SmartWool Casual and Sport Socks 50% Off
These men’s Downtowner socks from SmartWool are a bit dressier than typical SmartWool hiking socks. I wear several pair to my business casual work and, made from merino wool and a bit of spandex, they’re a lot more comfortable and cushioned than normal dress socks.
The ankle-high women’s running socks have a good amount of cushion but are thin enough they don’t affect shoe fit. The wool wicks and keeps your feet dry in hot weather or warm in cooler weather. With a snug fit they also prevent blisters during long runs, SmartWool really got these right.

It’s a bigger bargain than normal because the 2-zipper design is being discontinued for next season an the bag is on clearance.
