    $11.95 - Outdoor Research Sequence Men’s Tech-T

Outdoor Research Sequence Technical wicking t-shirt Short-Sleeve mens sale
I’m a big fan of synthetic t-shirts and clothing, especially for mixed-weather hiking and backpacking trips where staying dry means both keeping cool and warm at different times of day. Many synthetic, “technical” shirts are growing zippers, pockets, and extra seams faster than weeds in a sunny field. That’s where this Outdoor Research Sequence t-shirt comes in.

It’s a technical t-shirt with no added pockets or zippers, and off-shoulder seams so it won’t chafe under backpack straps. It’s also only 88% polyester for fast wicking and drying, and 12% merino wool for even faster wicking, softness, and low-stinkiness. Grab it at BackcountryOutlet.com for 66% off, just $11.95 in sizes S and L. Also no sales tax outside of Utah and free shipping on $50+ orders.

    $75.65 - Outdoor Research Men’s Razor Jacket

Outdoor Research new Mens Razor Jacket clearanceThe Outdoor Research Razor jacket is a 4 ounce softshell built to cut out wind chill. The ultrathin shell can keep you warm but breathes like nothing else during fall and winter running, snowshoeing, and light rains. It’s DWR coated but isn’t rated to any specific level of water resistance, so it may not be much of a rain shell, despite the ultralight weight.

On sale at Moosejaw in the Alpenglow color (pictured) the jacket also qualifies for free shipping and like all Moosejaw orders has no sales tax outside of Michigan.

    $65 - Mountainsmith Wolverine 20°F Sleeping Bag

Mountainsmith Wolverine 20F Sleeping BagFall is here and with it, a ton of end-of-season clearance gear. Camping equipment has been getting les and less expensive too, here’s a good example: this Mountainsmith 20° sleeping bag is only $65 right now, but it’s a name-brand with a good warranty and a load of good features.

On top of my list are the non-slip bottom to keep you on a sleeping pad and the polyester, instead of nylon, shell fabric (Why?: it’s quieter and doesn’t rustle like nylon). The Wolverine sleeping bag is a synthetic fill and weighs about 5 pounds, in a long size, but even though it’s not ultralight it’s worth it for the cheap price and as an extra sleeping bag to keep in the trunk in case a daytrip is enough fun to turn in to a weekend overnighter.

One more day for 8% off coupon on $88+ orders: The August coupon is out and is good for 8% off all orders of $88+ (this link only for coupon), valid until September 5th, 2007. Only this last link applies the coupon and the discount will appear once you shopping cart total is $88 or more.

SmartWool Casual and Sport Socks 50% Off

SmartWool Mens Down Towner Sock clearance backcountry.comThese men’s Downtowner socks from SmartWool are a bit dressier than typical SmartWool hiking socks. I wear several pair to my business casual work and, made from merino wool and a bit of spandex, they’re a lot more comfortable and cushioned than normal dress socks.

SmartWool Running Womens Mini Crew Socks sale Backcountry.comThe ankle-high women’s running socks have a good amount of cushion but are thin enough they don’t affect shoe fit. The wool wicks and keeps your feet dry in hot weather or warm in cooler weather. With a snug fit they also prevent blisters during long runs, SmartWool really got these right.

Even better, Backcountry.com offers free shipping on all orders of $50 or more and doesn’t charge sales tax on orders shipped outside of Utah.
