  • $59.99 - Adidas Waterra HT Trail Shoes on Sale

Adidas Waterra HT outdoor water shoes on sale
The Adidas Waterra HTis called a “water shoe”, even though it’s really just a trail running shoe with good drainage and a sticky sole. It’s a good thing too, because these things look far more normal than the slipper-like things that most water shoes are.

…so why suggest a pair of “water shoes” in the middle of some record-heat weeks? Because they’ve got more mesh than just about anything else you can get your hands on. Mesh keeps the feet dryer and that keep blisters away. Plus, when you do stop at a stream to try and get cool, you won’t have to worry about these shoes not drying out by the next morning.

The extra 36% off these and free shipping from Altrec is pretty cool too.

Quick tip: Another quick tip on stopping blisters when hiking in hot weather is to change your socks a lot. You don’t even need to carry any extra socks. Just wear two or three pairs of socks throughout the day and then use the same socks again the next day (or more depending on how long you’re out and how hardcore you are about not carrying extra clothes). If you’re only wearing them for 3-4 hours/pair the socks won’t have much chance to get soggy and start rubbing.

$82.48 - Lowest Price Ever on The North Face Women’s Denali Jacket

The North Face Women's Denali jacket on sale - SteepandCheapSteep and Cheap has the lowest price I’ve ever seen on the Women’s Denali jacket by The North Face. This is the standard Denali jacket and not one of the Thermal or versions that always go on clearance because no one seems to need a 4 poound fleece jacket. The standard Denali is Polartec 300 and weighs just 1 lb. 4 ozs. $82.48 is 50% off the regular price and currently they have XS-XL in both white and a purple’ish-gray color called “ionos purple”.

As usual, Steep and Cheap sales are one-day-only and end earlier when things sell out.

    $99.99 - Marmot Men’s Down Jacket 40% Off, XL-Only

$100 Marmot down jacket-sweater 40% off saleThe Marmot down “sweater” is actually a jacket and is 40% off at Backcountry.com. It’s not the techiest down jacket out there, but it’s one of the lightest at just 21 ounces. BTW, unless you’re sitting on a stack of $100 bills, and interesting in mailing a few to me, I don’t want any emails noting that Feathered Friends and Western Mountaineering have down jackets weighing almost half as light - this is, after all, a camping gear deals site. … and, I should mention this down jacket is a deal only if you’re a size XL and you can afford to ante up the Washingtons now, instead of waiting until the middle of winter before you realize you shoulda’ bought this.

Plus, free shipping on ALL orders (no minimum $) through July 31st.

55% Off The North Face Men’s Cutback Trail Running Shoes

55% Off The North Face Men's Cutback Trail Running ShoesThese Cutback trail running shoes by The North Face are sturdy, midrange running shoes for just $31.13 at Steep and Cheap. They’re part of TNF’s Flight series of stripped-down, no-fancy-feature gear and even at their regular price they’re simple enough to stay relatively light but still be very durable - with a polyurethane midsole shank …

… if you don’t know or care about poly-what’s-it, just know that it makes these serious trail shoes. that can offer support to big guys or anyone carrying a small pack. Unlike regular running shoes these won’t let rocks poke through easily or get chunks ripped out of the sole during stretches of rocky trail.

and, an added toeguard. Unlike a lot of trail shoes or boots I post here, these are also available in a lot of sizes, from 8.5 to 14 (half-sizes up to 12). Just remember that like all Steep and Cheap deals they’re only on sale today, July 21st.
