20% off and 10% off $100 Coupon for Sierra Trading Post Fall Sale

I’m in the habit of only reviewing my favorite stores lately. I think it’s for a good reason, since they have such great deals recently:

Sierra Trading Post, a top 5 favorite gear store, took an extra 20% off several thousand items (I’ll dig later to find some cool stuff for everyone), plus you can stack this coupon for 10% off any $100+ order on top of that. Just click and the coupon is applied at checkout (coupon expires 9/9/2005, sale ends 9/11/2005).

The North Face Buildering Shoes Reviewed and on Sale

Approach shoes are a new enough breed that a lot of companies still don’t get them right. Most that I’ve tried tend to be too heavy and clumsy to do much other than cause heel blisters or rolled ankles.

With just a few years of making shoes under their belts The North Face must have hired the right people, because their trail shoes are getting great reviews at the Altrec and Zappos web sites. Thankfully TNF is still changing models up a lot, so there are plenty of models from this season to put on sale.

Lowe Alpine Rush 27 and 35 Daypacks on Sale

I have an old-school predecessor to both of these packs that is about 11 years old. It started out splitting its time as a book bag for school and my main pack for weekend overnight camping. All that time and hundreds of days stuffed with gear (No, I’m not carrying too much. It’s only a 30 liter pack, so a sleeping bag and food is a tough fit.) and my pack doesn’t have a single hole or blown seam.

These Lowe Alpine packs are made the same way and with their padded hipbelts they should out-carry and out-comfort many fo the ultralight daypacks that are everywhere now. Both packs also one-up my old model with both internal and external sleeves for hydration bladders and dual mesh pockets by the hipbelt.

    30% Off Sierra Designs Hyperlight 3 Tent: A Big, 3-person, 6-pound Wonder

The Sierra Designs Hyperlight 3 Tent is marked down to just $237 at Sierra Trading Post.

At only 6 lbs. 3 oz. for a roomy 3-person tent this one is a keeper. I’m considering buying one myself, since its length would be great for a taller camper like myself and the extra room would mean we could keep the dog inside and dry (our husky sneaks out into the rain, then crawls back under the vestibule and shakes off - on to the one dry space for miles around). This Hyperlight 3 tent also uses the high-end Featherlight poles from Easton and should stand up to a lot of wind and abuse. Plus, the colors of this tent should keep it cool under a bright sun.

New 2005 Marmot Tents on Clearance at Sierra Trading Post

Marmot tents are favorites around here, for good reason. They stand up to a ton of abuse, never have droopy flies that let drips in, and have a good balance of size and weight.
