I’m not training for any races, but I like to do a long easy run once each weekend. It helps to wear out the dog – and sometimes gets me out of having to vacuum the floors. The bad thing about long runs once it’s warm out (yes it was 75° in our SoCal town this AM) is that a cotton t-shirt usually gets wet and chafes my armpits… and the good synthetic ones that don’t do that as much are usually expensive.
Several New Balance synthtic t-shirts on sale now:
- New Balance Breeze t-shirt, 57% off, $11.95
- New Balance BioCool t-shirt39% off, $16.95
- New Balance BioCool Long Sleeve T37% off, $29.95
Alpinestars is a small brand that got its start making products for the motocross scene. This women’s Lamb Leather Jacket from Alpinestars is a bit moto and whole whole lot of smooth – especially at only $69.95.
With gas so expensive in Southern California I’m aiming to ride to work one day each week (cut me some slack it’s almost an hour ride each way). Since I’m tired of my backpack slipping up and pushing my helmet down onto my forehead the Dakine messenger bag looks like just the thing. It’s 5% off, before the other deals – which are good on anything else RockyMountainTrail stocks.
- Use the coupon code SPRING for 10% off any order.
- Free shipping on ALL orders right now, no coupon required.
Direct from the manufacturer: New Trend yogawear has great feedback on eBay, is made in Canada (same place as Lululemon), and is less than half the cost of Lululemon or Nike yoga or pilates clothes.
Any extra space in the garage? Cheack out REI-OUTLET.com for their 50% off sale on everything REI had left over.
Prana has been around since well before I took a summer off from college and went climbing maybe 8+ years ago (yeah, I’m old but not so much that the climer’s-knuckle arthritis has set in). Their clothes always stood up well to rough treatment while climbing, and really fit athletic bodies well, but they were hard to find.
Selling to the yoga crowd has made Prana easier to find – and their cool designs probably fit in better there than in climber camps. Several women’s tops and bottoms are on sale at BackcountryOutlet.com, and now that I’ve found them D wants to get some for herself… (A quick warning that sizes are limited, so they may be halfway to soldout already.)
- The top pick: Prana Henna Sleeveless Top, $22.35 at 30% off
- Prana Asana Pant, $45.45 at 30% off
- Prana Eva Long Sleeve Shirt $27.50 at 30% off
- Prana Capri Pant, $34.95 at 30% off
Does Mom hike, practice yoga, or surf? If so check out these 30-70% off deals at BackcountryOutlet.com.
This may be a site for hiking and camping deals, but since we spend a lot of time in our cars, especially when driving to wherever we’re going each weekend, we’re addicted to our iPods. This wireless iPod remote makes controlling music on the iPod easier and safer in the car. Plus, with a range of 150 ft, it makes it easy to control when you’re too sore & tired to walk into the next room. Even better, this FM iPod transmitter lets you stream music through the radio and at $19 it’s a lot cheaper than an in-car iPod dock.
Toys! Just a few years back a GPS unit was as fragile as glass and as expensive as a laptop – now they’re armored, sealed and on sale for less than $100.
- Magellan eXplorist 100 GPS, rubber armored & waterproofed
- Garmin eTrex GPSwaterproofed & ruggedized case
- Magellan Meridian Platinum GPS, rubber armored & waterproofed
Despite running this site that features all types of fancy camping gear and despite owning a whole lot of gear, I still don’t have an LED headlamp. My classic Petzl Zoom lamp uses a big, fat battery and lasts forever – plus with the halogen bulb I can see forever compared to all the newer LED headlamps I’ve seen. The only problem is that the 4.5v batteries are getting tough to find at gear stores, plus they’re getting expensive (almost $10 at a local Adventure 16 shop). I managed to find them for only $6.40 at Amazon.com for a Duracell 4.5v alkaline battery.
Also, I didn’t find any headlamp batteries, but if you need a cell phone or laptop battery it looks like Batteries.com has more types and sizes than anywhere else I’ve seen in one place.
I’m a big fan of down sleeping bags (although the price on the Wild Bill I mentioned earlier makes it a steal while it’s still only $65). Since I’m also over 6 feet tall, I usually get charged an extra $20-$40 for longer bags. This Sierra Designs Cloudripper bag is 30% off, making it one of the least expensive 20 deg F down bags we’ve seen that also have a lifetime warranty (plus free shipping from Altrec.com).
The Sierra Designs synthetic bags are very well-made, but it’s the $65.97 price that makes the Wild Bill the best 20 deg F men’s sleeping bag for HikerDeals shoppers.
Osprey makes incredibly comfortable & durable packs. 45% off the 36-liter Osprey Eclipse daypack at Altrec.com, only $92.97, plus free shipping.
The spring sale at Altrec.com offers 15% Off (limited time) gear including items from Patagonia, The North Face, and Nike ACG.
